        Abstract

This study analyzed the quality of a test instrument designed to measure fifth-grade elementary school students’ creative thinking skills on the water cycle. A quantitative descriptive design was applied. The instrument contained 15 multiple-choice items and 4 essay items representing fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Six experts, consisting of three lecturers and three elementary school teachers, assessed content validity using Aiken’s V. The instrument was administered to 103 fifth-grade students. Item characteristics were examined through validity, reliability, discrimination, difficulty, and distractor effectiveness using ITEMAN 4.4 and ANATES V4. The results showed that most items met the content-validity criterion, with Aiken’s V values generally at or above 0.78. Cronbach’s Alpha was 0.838 for the pretest and 0.817 for the posttest, while ANATES produced reliability coefficients of 0.83 and 0.84. Most items had moderate-to-good discrimination, and difficulty ranged from easy to difficult. Distractors were more effective in the posttest. Overall, the instrument demonstrated adequate psychometric characteristics for assessing creative thinking in elementary science.
