PARENTAL SUPPORT AND CAREER ORIENTATION AS DETERMINANTS OF STUDENTS’ FURTHER EDUCATION DECISIONS AT SMK NEGERI 1 TAMBUSAI
- Parental support
- career orientation
- higher education decision-making
- vocational high school students
Abstract
This study aims to determine the influence of parental support and career orientation on the decision-making process regarding further education among students at SMK Negeri 1 Tambusai. This is an associative quantitative study. The study population consists of all 308 twelfth-grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Tambusai. The sampling technique used was random sampling, meaning the entire population was included in the study sample. Questionnaires were used as instruments to measure parental support, career orientation, and decisions regarding further education. Data analysis employed multiple linear regression. The results indicate a significant influence of parental support and career orientation on the decisions regarding further education among students at SMK Negeri 1 Tambusai, with a linearity test significance value (sig) of 0.000 (< 0.05). The calculated F-value of 19,531.925 indicates that both independent variables simultaneously influence the dependent variable, and the significance level (sig) of 0.000 is less than 0.05; thus, the hypothesis stating the existence of a simultaneous influence between the variables is supported. This means that the higher the level of parental support and the better the students’ career orientation, the more mature and appropriate their decisions regarding further education will be.

Planning and Implementing Digital Learning in Indonesia's Twenty-First-Century Education System: An Integrative Review Integrative review of models, determinants, and strategies
Abstract
Digital transformation requires education systems to move beyond the technical adoption of platforms and devices toward pedagogically grounded, inclusive, and sustainable learning designs. This article aims to analyse the urgency, planning models, implementation determinants, and digital media strategies needed to strengthen digital learning in Indonesia's twenty-first-century education system. Using a qualitative structured integrative literature review, this study synthesised conceptual, empirical, and policy literature on digital learning, instructional design, TPACK, SAMR, blended learning, learning analytics, artificial intelligence in education, and Indonesian curriculum policy. The data were analysed through content analysis and thematic synthesis to identify recurring concepts, relationships among components, and implications for educational governance. The results indicate that digital learning in Indonesia is shaped by five interrelated dimensions: system context, instructional design, operational implementation, digital media strategy, and continuous evaluation. The study further proposes an integrative conceptual model that connects ADDIE, TPACK, critical SAMR reflection, blended and hybrid learning, and data-informed evaluation within the specific context of Indonesian education. The discussion argues that digital learning should be understood not as media migration but as systemic pedagogical transformation. The study implies that teachers need stronger digital pedagogical competence, institutions need coherent digital learning ecosystems, and policymakers need to ensure equitable infrastructure, ethical data governance, and sustained professional development.- 0 Citations

- education management information system
- nature school
- digital transformation
- qualitative case study
Abstract
Digital transformation in education positions school principals as strategic actors in managing the implementation of the Education Management Information System (EMIS); however, empirical studies remain concentrated on formal schools and have not adequately explored alternative school contexts. This study aims to analyze principals' leadership strategies in managing EMIS implementation in nature schools, alternative educational institutions with distinct philosophical, pedagogical, and cultural characteristics. The study employed a qualitative approach with a multiple case study design at two nature schools, Naufal Zahra School and Arrasyid School. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two principals as key informants and four supporting informants (teachers and system operators), participant observation, and documentary analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model encompassing data condensation, thematic display, and conclusion drawing and verification, supported by source, method, and cross-case triangulation. The findings identify five mutually reinforcing leadership strategies: needs-diagnostic planning, phased socialization and implementation, differentiated training combined with empowering operators as internal technical agents, institutional digital culture building, and adaptive management of implementation barriers. These strategies improved administrative effectiveness, accelerated data-driven decision-making, and strengthened school–parent communication while maintaining coherence with the humanistic values of nature schools. This study contributes to educational leadership theory by demonstrating that successful EMIS implementation in alternative institutions rests on contextual, transformational, and adaptive leadership strategies attuned to organizational culture.

- Integrative curriculum
- Nature-based school
- Ecosystem factors
- Systematic literature review
Abstract
Nature-based schools have grown rapidly worldwide, yet research on how teachers collaborate to develop integrative curricula within these settings—and what ecosystem factors shape such collaboration—remains limited. This study aimed to systematically synthesise existing literature on teacher collaboration in integrative curriculum development at nature-based schools, identify enabling and impeding ecosystem factors, and map current research gaps. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol was conducted, screening 90 articles from four databases (ERIC, Google Scholar, Scispace, and Semantic Scholar) published between 2015 and 2026, from which 43 articles met all inclusion criteria. Thematic analysis revealed four main forms of teacher collaboration: curriculum co-planning and co-design, interdisciplinary team teaching, professional learning communities (PLC), and collaboration with external actors. Four ecosystem factor categories were identified as enablers and barriers: school leadership (the most determinant factor), school culture, educational policy, and the physical-community ecosystem of nature-based schools. Five critical research gaps were identified, notably the scarcity of studies in Asian and Indonesian contexts, the absence of integrative research simultaneously examining all three variables, and the lack of longitudinal studies. These findings indicate that effective teacher collaboration in nature-based schools requires distributed principal leadership, autonomy-supporting policies, and a systemic collaborative culture, with implications for school principals, policymakers, and researchers.

Pengaruh Vegetarianisme Terhadap Kesejahteraan Spiritual Umat Buddha Di Vihara Avalokitesvara, Jayapura , Mediasi Pengendalian Diri Dan Welas Asih
Abstract

THE EXISTENCE OF TADUT ART IN MUARA DUA VILLAGE, LAHAT: A STUDY OF FACTORS AND PRESERVATION MECHANISMS
Abstract
This study aims to examine the existence of the Tadut art form among the Muara Dua community in Pagar Gunung District, Lahat Regency, as well as to analyze the factors influencing its sustainability and preservation mechanisms. Tadut is a traditional oral literature of the Besemah people that is rich in Islamic values and historically served as a vital medium for religious learning when access to literacy was limited. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with three key informants selected via purposive sampling, and documentary studies. The results indicate that Tadut was introduced to Muara Dua in 1657 by Ki Haji Mahmud as a medium for teaching Islam. During its golden era (1657–1970), Tadut played a central role in Islamic dawah (prosetylization) and education; however, after the 1970s, its function shifted into a ceremonial art performed during tahlilan (mourning rituals) and wedding ceremonies. The existence of Tadut is influenced by social, aesthetic, functional, as well as knowledge and educational factors. Meanwhile, the primary inhibiting factors include socio-cultural changes, shifts in aesthetic values, the loss of its primary function, lack of documentation, and weak regeneration. Preservation efforts undertaken by the community and the local Cultural Heritage Foundation remain sporadic and have not been systematically structured. This study concludes that although Tadut still exists, its sustainability heavily depends on role revitalization, adaptive innovation, and active support from all stakeholders.

Culturally Based Unplugged Coding and Creatif Thinking: A Systematic Literature Review
Abstract
Indonesia's traditional games, folktales, and arts remain a largely untapped resource for early computational thinking (CT) education, a field still shaped by Western frames. Unplugged coding offers a developmentally appropriate, screen-free route into CT, yet how it works when grounded in local culture, and how it relates to creative thinking, has not been synthesised. This study addresses that gap through a systematic literature review guided by PRISMA 2020. Searches of Scopus and Google Scholar covered 2015 to 2026. Of 476 records identified, 18 studies met the inclusion criteria and were synthesised thematically. Three patterns emerged. Cultural integration took four forms: narrative-based coding, traditional-game and familiar-context coding, local-wisdom curriculum and materials, and teacher-designed culturally responsive activities. The approach supported creative thinking through three mechanisms: creative expression, divergent thinking, and creative confidence, although direct evidence rested largely on a single study. The corpus also sat on two axes, from strictly unplugged to plugged activity and from explicit local wisdom to broader cultural framing, with the strictly unplugged and local-wisdom combination concentrated in Indonesian work. The review supports neither the claim that the approach transforms early CT education nor the view that culture is mere decoration. It recasts culture less as a motivational layer than as a pedagogical mechanism that can bridge computational and creative thinking when it forms the activity's generative core. A four-dimensional framework of cultural grounding, computational scaffolding, creative activation, and professional enablement is proposed.

Abstract
The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has driven significant transformations across various aspects of higher education, including the professional responsibilities of academic staff. While previous studies have predominantly focused on the pedagogical and technological dimensions of AI integration, its implications for educator performance management have received comparatively limited attention. This study aims to analyze the implications of Artificial Intelligence utilization for reducing administrative workload and enhancing teaching quality, as well as to examine its contribution to the transformation of educator performance management in higher education institutions. The study employed an Integrative Literature Review approach based on the framework proposed by Whittemore and Knafl. Data were collected from the Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar databases, covering publications from 2021 to 2026. The synthesis of 17 selected articles indicates that AI utilization contributes significantly to improving academic work efficiency through the reduction of administrative and repetitive tasks. This efficiency enables the redistribution of lecturers’ time and resources toward higher-value activities, including instructional innovation, research, and academic collaboration. The findings further suggest that the advancement of AI has the potential to shift faculty performance management from an administrative compliance-oriented approach toward a model emphasizing the quality of contributions and academic impact. This study proposes the concept of value-based academic performance as a conceptual framework for managing human resources in higher education within the context of digital transformation

Deep Learning Supported by Desmos Classroom to Improve Problem-Solving Skills and Regulate Students’ Emotions
Abstract
Mathematical problem-solving skills are one of the key competencies students must possess in mathematics education. However, in reality, many students still struggle to solve mathematical problems, particularly those involving linear equations. In addition to cognitive factors, affective aspects—such as emotional regulation—also influence students’ success in the learning process. Therefore, there is a need for instructional innovations capable of enhancing mathematical problem-solving skills while simultaneously supporting students’ emotional regulation. This study aims to determine the effect of Desmos Classroom-assisted deep learning on students’ mathematical problem-solving skills and emotional regulation regarding linear equations. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study population consisted of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Kalanganyar. The sample comprised an experimental class that received deep learning instruction supported by Desmos Classroom and a control class that received conventional instruction. The instruments used included a mathematical problem-solving ability test and a student emotional regulation questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics through hypothesis testing. The results indicate that deep learning instruction supported by Desmos Classroom has a positive effect on students’ mathematical problem-solving skills. This is evidenced by an increase in the students’ average score from 57.15 on the pretest to 71.63 on the posttest. The results of the hypothesis test also showed a significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference following the implementation of the instruction. In addition, students’ emotional regulation achieved an average percentage of 76.08%, which falls into the “very good” category. Thus, deep learning instruction supported by Desmos Classroom can serve as an effective alternative for improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills while simultaneously supporting their emotional regulation when studying linear equations

Vehicle Adoption Trend Analysis Based on Engine Displacement Segmentation Using Data Mining on Samsat Registration Data
Abstract
Indonesia's South Sumatra province generates substantial four-wheeled vehicle registration activity, yet the administrative records that document this activity have rarely been subjected to systematic analytical scrutiny. This study draws on Samsat vehicle registration data from 2025 and the first quarter of 2026 to examine how new vehicle adoption patterns differ across engine displacement (CC) segments. The dataset spanned 15 Excel files: Dataset A covered the full year 2025 (17,867 units), while Dataset B captured Q1 2026 (6,190 units). Because column naming conventions varied across files, a keyword-matching-based preprocessing pipeline was developed to handle integration. The analysis combined the Mann-Kendall Trend Test, Sen's Slope Estimator, STL Decomposition, Kruskal-Wallis Test, and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) as an out-of-sample projection benchmark.
The Mann-Kendall test returned no statistically significant monotonic trend (p = 0.7105), which indicates that the proportional split between engine displacement categories stayed broadly stable over the observation window. Low-displacement vehicles (≤1,500 cc) held a consistent majority, averaging 66.10% of monthly registrations, throughout the period. STL Decomposition revealed a seasonal component responsible for roughly 50.02% of total data variance; the low-displacement segment peaked in November, while the high-displacement segment peaked in March. Projection accuracy, measured by MAPE, came in at 14.46% for the low-displacement segment (Accurate) and 37.92% for the high-displacement segment (Moderately Accurate). Based on these results, Samsat's administrative data proves to be highly useful for practical applications. Regional governments can utilize this data to improve public service planning and estimate regional own-source revenue (PAD) more accurately

Consumer Trust Mediates Live Streaming Optimization and Product Specialization in Increasing Marketplace Purchase Interest
Abstract
This study addressed the empirical gap regarding the mechanisms underlying consumer purchase decisions within the direct digital commerce framework, focusing on Erlimakids consumers on Shopee and TikTok Shop. The primary objective was to investigate the structural path of live streaming perceptions and product specialization in driving purchase intentions, while concurrently examining the specific role of marketplace consumer trust as an operational mediator. Utilizing an explanatory quantitative approach based on the Stimulus-Organism-Response model, primary data from 161 validated respondents were statistically analyzed via Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The structural model evaluation demonstrated that both live streaming quality and strategic product specialization substantially reinforced consumer trust, which subsequently exerted a critical directive influence on purchase intention. Furthermore, product specialization emerged as the most dominant direct determinant of purchase preferences. The mediation analysis verified that consumer trust in the marketplace operated as a substantive partial mediator, indicating a dual-track cognitive mechanism where purchase intention was simultaneously shaped by trust-based psychological evaluations and direct attribute assessment. Consequently, integrating specialized product positioning with interactive digital communication effectively maximized transactional conversions.

Building the Integrity Fortress: A Holistic Performance Management and Accountability Model for Islamic Educational Institutions
Abstract
Islamic educational institutions are currently facing an accountability crisis and the phenomenon of a "simulacrum of compliance" dominated by secular administrative instruments. The failure of conventional managerial paradigms highlights the urgent need to reconstruct a holistic performance management model. This study aims to formulate an integrated model through four main pillars: Qalbu (intuitive control), Religion (theological foundation), Culture (social control), and Law (formal regulation). Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on PRISMA 2020 guidelines, 28 key publications from Scopus, Web of Science, and Sinta (2017–2026) were analyzed thematically. The review indicates that the pillars of Qalbu (muraqabah) and Religion serve as the foundation for internal control, mitigating the risk of moral deviation, while Culture (peer control) and Law (Islamic Boarding School Law 18/2019, e-RKAM) act as instruments for enforcing external collective standards. This research proposes "The Integrity Fortress," a conceptual model that synergizes vertical (transcendental) and horizontal (socio-structural) value flows. As a practical output, this model includes an implementation design matrix tailored for Madrasah Aliyah. The design features concrete applications ranging from "Unsupervised Classrooms" to internalizing Qalbu values to the utilization of the e-Madrasah system for legal certainty, illustrated through a governance scenario for student organization funds (OSIM). In conclusion, accountability in Islamic education requires an interlocking ecosystem where spiritual consciousness is transformed into organizational culture and subsequently formalized within the legal system.

Deep Learning-Based Learning Model Design: Efforts to Improve Critical Analysis Skills in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Subjects
Abstract
This study discusses the development of a deep learning-based instructional design model as an effort to improve students' critical analytical skills in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The study is motivated by the fact that PAI learning practices are still largely focused on rote memorization (surface learning), resulting in students' critical, reflective, and contextual thinking abilities not being optimally developed. Therefore, this research aims to develop and analyze the effectiveness of a deep learning-based instructional model in enhancing students' critical analytical skills, particularly in the aspects of interpretation, evaluation, and argumentation. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by examining national and international scholarly articles indexed in Google Scholar, SINTA, and GARUDA published between 2020 and 2025. The findings reveal that the implementation of deep learning is able to improve conceptual understanding, students' active engagement in learning, learning motivation, creativity, and critical thinking skills. In addition, this approach helps students internalize religious values more deeply and meaningfully. The deep learning approach is considered relevant to the demands of 21st-century learning and the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum because it emphasizes active, reflective, and contextual learning processes. This study contributes to the development of a PAI instructional design that integrates cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions, making it a potential innovative alternative for improving the quality of Islamic education in the modern era

Abstract
The low levels of learning activity, collaborative skills, and learning outcomes in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) remain a major challenge in implementing 21st-century learning, which emphasizes active student participation. Preliminary observations conducted in Class V-B of MIN 4 Tebo revealed that most students demonstrated limited participation in group discussions, ineffective task distribution, and learning outcomes that had not yet met the expected minimum mastery criteria. This study aimed to improve students' learning activities, collaborative activities, and learning outcomes through the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model based on a Mount Merapi simulation in IPAS learning. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consisted of two cycles involving planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research participants were 16 fifth-grade students of Class V-B at MIN 4 Tebo. Data were collected through observations, achievement tests, interviews, and documentation, while the data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The findings indicated that the implementation of Project Based Learning based on the Mount Merapi simulation significantly improved students' learning activities from 62.5% in Cycle I to 93.8% in Cycle II. Students' collaborative activities also increased from 47.8% to 86.3%, while learning mastery improved from 64.3% to 100%, with the class average score reaching 86.6 in Cycle II. These findings demonstrate that project-based learning effectively promotes active student engagement, strengthens collaborative skills, and enhances conceptual understanding through contextual and meaningful learning experiences. Therefore, the Project Based Learning model based on the Mount Merapi simulation can serve as an effective instructional alternative for improving the quality of IPAS learning in elementary schools.

ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT IMPLEMENTATION ON PATIENT LOYALTY, WITH SERVICE QUALITY AND PATIENT SATISFACTION AS MEDIATING VARIABLES (A Study of Patients at the Dental and Oral Health Clinic of the Poncol Community Health Center in Magetan Regency)
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of Total Quality Management (TQM) implementation on patient loyalty with service quality and patient satisfaction as mediating variables at the Dental and Oral Polyclinic of Poncol Health Center, Magetan Regency. This research is motivated by the phenomenon of fluctuating patient revisit rates that showed a declining trend throughout 2025, indicating problems in maintaining patient loyalty. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of all patients who made revisit visits to the Dental and Oral Polyclinic of Poncol Health Center during the period January-December 2025, totaling 441 people. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error, resulting in 137 respondents. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS version 4.1.6.6 software. The results showed that: (1) TQM has no direct effect on patient loyalty; (2) TQM has a positive and significant effect on service quality; (3) TQM has a positive and significant effect on patient satisfaction; (4) service quality has a positive and significant effect on patient loyalty; (5) patient satisfaction has no significant effect on patient loyalty; (6) service quality is proven to mediate the effect of TQM on patient loyalty; and (7) patient satisfaction is not proven to mediate the effect of TQM on patient loyalty. These findings reinforce TQM theory (Deming, 1986) and SERVQUAL theory (Parasuraman et al., 1988) which emphasize the importance of quality management implementation in improving service quality, which ultimately can shape patient loyalty. Practically, health center management is advised to focus efforts on improving service quality, particularly on aspects of environmental comfort, service speed, and medical staff interaction with patients, as well as ensuring that every system improvement can be applied to real services that are directly felt by patients.

THE EFFECT OF WORK-LIFE BALANCE AND COMPETENCE ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE, MEDIATED BY INTRINSIC MOTIVATION, AMONG EMPLOYEES IN THE GENERAL AFFAIRS DIVISION OF THE MADIUN CITY REGIONAL SECRETARIAT
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance and competence on employee performance, with intrinsic motivation serving as a mediating variable, among employees of the General Affairs Division of the Regional Secretariat of Madiun City. The increasing complexity of administrative responsibilities, the growing implementation of technology in public services, and the need to maintain a balance between work and personal life require employees to possess adequate competencies and high intrinsic motivation to achieve optimal performance. However, several issues remain, including work-life imbalance, uneven employee competencies, and relatively low intrinsic motivation, all of which may affect employee performance. This study employed a quantitative approach using an explanatory research design. The population consisted of all employees of the General Affairs Division of the Regional Secretariat of Madiun City. A census sampling technique was applied, in which all members of the population were included as research respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to examine both the direct and indirect relationships among the research variables. The results indicate that work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on both employee performance and intrinsic motivation. Competence has a positive and significant effect on intrinsic motivation but does not have a significant direct effect on employee performance. Intrinsic motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, intrinsic motivation significantly mediates the relationship between work-life balance and employee performance through partial mediation, and fully mediates the relationship between competence and employee performance through full mediation. These findings suggest that improving employee performance depends not only on enhancing competence and maintaining work-life balance but also on strengthening employees' intrinsic motivation.

- Informal Digital Learning of English
- Extramural English
- vocabulary acquisition
- motivation
- learning styles
Abstract
In the digital era, English learning often extends beyond the classroom as students engage with authentic content via social media, online videos, and games. This study investigates how Informal Digital Learning of English (IDLE) and Extramural English (EE) activities foster vocabulary acquisition and motivation among English education students at IAIN Langsa. The researcher employs a qualitative approach, collecting data through semi-structured interviews and observations. Thematic analysis of the data revealed that learning was driven by audiovisual input, a synergy of intrinsic and ideal L2 self-motivation, and mediated by individual learning styles. Despite the prevalence of these behaviors, formal curricula seldom integrate such informal experiences. This research addresses that gap by examining how digital habits influence vocabulary growth and learner autonomy, which aligns with Indonesia's Merdeka Belajar curriculum and its emphasis on self-directed learning. The findings offer pedagogical insights for bridging formal instruction with informal digital practices, making English education more relevant. Conducted during a critical period of digital transformation, this study provides timely contributions to curriculum development and teacher education, empowering learners to harness their daily digital interactions for lifelong language proficiency.

Strengthening Discipline and English Proficiency: EFL Preservice Teachers' Perspectives on Reciting Qur'an with English Translation
Abstract
This study explores EFL preservice teachers' perspectives on reciting the Qur'an with English translation as a strategy to strengthen discipline and English proficiency. Descriptive mixed methods was employed at the English Education Department of UMNU Kebumen, involving 47 preservice teachers from second and fourth semesters. Data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation over one semester. The findings revealed that students held highly positive perspectives, perceiving the practice as an educational consequence rather than punishment. The activity effectively reduced tardiness frequency, enhanced students' awareness of punctuality, and facilitated internalization of discipline as personal value. Regarding language development, students reported perceived improvements in vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation skills, and recognition of Islamic-English lexical equivalents. The integration of religious values made English learning more meaningful and identity-relevant. All interviewed students expressed intention to implement similar approaches in their future teaching careers with contextual adaptations. This study contributes to the theoretical frameworks of Liberating Discipline Pedagogy, Sociocultural Theory, and CLIL in Pre-Service Teacher Education by demonstrating how religious texts can function as mediational tools for simultaneous behavioral regulation and perceived language development. The findings offer practical implications for English teachers and curriculum developers in Islamic educational contexts.

Learners’ Engagement with Digital Literature in EFL Contexts: A Systematic Literature Review from a Multimodal Perspective
Abstract
This systematic literature review aims to examine how previous studies have investigated learners’ engagement with digital literature in EFL contexts from a multimodal perspective. Existing research has widely discussed digital storytelling, digital multimodal composing, multimodal literacy, and educational technology in English language learning; however, the relationship between digital literature, learner engagement, and multimodal meaning-making remains fragmented. To address this gap, this study reviewed 12 preliminary articles published between 2016 and 2026 from relevant international and Indonesian academic sources, using a systematic review procedure informed by PRISMA 2020 and Zawacki-Richter et al.’s approach to educational systematic reviews. The analysis focused on research demographics, forms of digital literature, dimensions of learner engagement, multimodal elements, benefits, challenges, and research gaps. The findings show that digital storytelling and digital multimodal composing dominate the literature, while other digital literary forms such as interactive fiction, e-poetry, hypertext narratives, fanfiction, and social media-based literature remain underexplored. The review contributes by proposing that EFL learners’ engagement with digital literature should be understood as behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and multimodal participation in meaning-making

Deep Learning Pedagogy, Ethical Awareness, and Critical Digital Literacy in Higher Education: A Systematic Review
Abstract
This systematic literature review examines how deep learning pedagogy influences students’ ethical awareness and critical digital literacy in higher education. Existing research has discussed deep learning, digital literacy, and ethical awareness separately, yet limited attention has been given to how these three constructs intersect as an integrated pedagogical concern in university learning. To address this gap, the review analyzed 16 articles published between 2016 and 2026, selected from Scopus, ERIC, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis Online, and SINTA 1 and 2 journals. The review followed systematic review procedures informed by Zawacki-Richter et al. and PRISMA 2020, with analysis focused on publication trends, countries, research methods, conceptualizations, pedagogical strategies, and research gaps. The findings show that deep learning pedagogy is commonly associated with student-centered learning, higher-order thinking, reflection, problem-solving, and authentic digital inquiry. Its influence is more evident in critical digital literacy than in ethical awareness, although recent AI ethics studies show growing attention to academic integrity, moral sensitivity, and responsible technology use. The novelty of this review lies in synthesizing deep learning pedagogy as a potential pathway for developing ethically aware and critically literate university students in digital higher education

Students’ Perceptions of Difficulties in Learning Basic Kanji at Pakuan University and Darma Persada University
Abstract
This study aims to examine the perceptions of Japanese Literature students at Pakuan University and Darma Persada University regarding the difficulties encountered in learning basic-level kanji. Kanji is a type of character originating from China that was introduced to Japan. It is also one of the subjects often considered a daunting and most challenging obstacle for Japanese language learners, particularly beginner students. The difficulties in learning kanji are generally caused by the students' background as users of the Roman alphabet (romaji), which poses challenges when studying kanji. This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach, with data collection techniques utilizing a Likert scale distributed via Google Forms to students from both universities. The research participants consisted of 31 students from the Japanese Literature Study Program at Pakuan University and 54 students from the Japanese Language and Culture Study Program at Darma Persada University who had completed the basic kanji course. The results indicated that students experienced primary difficulties in memorizing kanji forms and meanings, distinguishing between onyomi and kunyomi, and applying kanji within the context of jukugo (compound kanji). Furthermore, learning strategies, motivational factors, and the support of the kanji instructional materials used also influenced students' difficulties in learning kanji. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more effective kanji learning strategies and serve as constructive input for educators in determining basic-level kanji learning models.

Improving Constructing Child Friendly School Culture Through Symbolic Interaction
- Child-Friendly School
- Constructivist Grounded Theory
- School Culture
- Stakeholder Meaning-Making
- Symbolic Interactionism
Abstract
School culture is not a static institutional given but a dynamic social achievement produced and reproduced through the everyday interpretive interactions of all stakeholders: teachers, students, parents, and administrators. This article investigates how the concept of "child-friendly culture" is socially constructed, negotiated, and internalized as a living school culture within Indonesian Child-Friendly Schools (Sekolah Ramah Anak/SRA). Drawing on a qualitative case study conducted at SMA Swasta Harapan Mandiri Medan, an officially SRA, designated school in a multicultural urban context, the article applies the theoretical framework of Constructivist Symbolic Interactionism as elaborated by Herbert Blumer (1969), Kathy Charmaz (2014), and Norman K. Denzin (2019). This integrated framework attends to three dimensions of meaning-making: the symbolic interactions through which "child-friendly" meanings are communicated and shared; the constructivist processes through which these meanings are shaped by actors' reflexive engagement with their social contexts and lived experiences; and the interpretive flexibility through which different stakeholder groups construct divergent yet interrelated understandings of what child-friendly school culture means in practice. Data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation of school cultural routines, and documentary analysis reveal that "child-friendly culture" is most authentically enacted not through formal policy compliance but through the accumulated symbolic practices of daily school life. The article argues that school culture literacy, the capacity of educational actors to reflectively understand, critically evaluate, and actively shape the symbolic environment of their school, is a precondition for genuine SRA implementation.

Media Framing of Children's Rights, Discrimination, and Prevention Efforts in the Educational Environment
Abstract
Children's rights are fundamental human rights that must be protected. However, violations in the form of bullying and discrimination within educational environments remain a serious problem in Indonesia. This study analyzes media framing of children's rights issues, discrimination, and bullying prevention efforts in Indonesian educational settings using a qualitative descriptive case study approach and Entman’s (1993) framing model. Primary data from national media outlets (Kompas, Saibumi, MetroTVNews, Liputan6, RRI, and Alodokter) covering the period of August to November 2025 show a significant increase in bullying cases, from 285 cases in 2023 to 573 cases in 2024. Physical bullying dominated (55.5%), followed by verbal bullying (29.3%), with cyberbullying also rising sharply by 100%. The media define bullying as a violation of children's rights to protection and a safe education. They diagnose its causes as the lack of school supervision, tolerant norms toward discrimination (based on gender, socio-economic status, and identity), and the influence of social media. In moral judgments, the media portray victims as the vulnerable party and institutions such as KPAI and Komnas PA as defenders of children's rights, while schools and parents are viewed as ethically failing. The recommended solutions include holistic prevention through inclusive curricula, teacher training, psychological support, and child-friendly policies in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and Law No. 35 of 2014. This framing influences public opinion and policy responses toward creating a discrimination-free educational environment.

Transforming Vocational Education Financing Governance through Performance-Based Hybrid Financing in Lampung Province
Abstract
This study analyzes the transformation of vocational education financing governance through performance-based and BLUD-based hybrid financing in Lampung Province. Using a descriptive qualitative design with a multisite case study approach, this study examined three vocational institutions with different governance characteristics: non-BLUD, developing BLUD, and large-scale BLUD schools. Data were collected through policy documents, school financial planning documents, institutional profiles, and relevant secondary data, and were analyzed using an interactive qualitative analysis model. The findings show that conventional financing remains highly dependent on government allocations and community contributions, creating fiscal vulnerability after the abolition of school committee fees. BLUD status strengthens financial autonomy by enabling schools to retain and reinvest revenue generated through Teaching Factory activities, industry partnerships, and production-based learning units. However, the effectiveness of this model depends on entrepreneurial leadership, performance-based budgeting, industrial collaboration, and digital accountability through ARKAS and SIPLah. This study implies that regional governments should accelerate BLUD readiness, strengthen vocational school financial management capacity, and develop hybrid financing policies that maintain a balance between institutional revenue generation, educational equity, and graduate quality improvement.

This study explores the challenges and opportunities of using TikTok as a learning medium at SMK Yuppentek 2, a vocational high school in Tangerang, Indonesia, using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten informants, supported by observation and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model with source and method triangulation. The findings show that students mainly perceive TikTok as an entertainment platform. The main challenges include algorithm-driven distractions, limited depth of short-form content, unequal internet access, and the lack of systematic classroom integration. Despite these limitations, TikTok supports vocational skill demonstrations, self-directed learning, creativity, digital literacy, and school promotion. Viewed through the distinction between gratifications sought and gratifications obtained, the findings indicate that TikTok's educational value depends on its ability to meet students' learning motivations and expectations. Therefore, TikTok has the potential to serve as a complementary learning medium in vocational education when supported by appropriate instructional strategies.

Abstract
This study aims to systematically review the implementation of social constructivism-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in mathematics education at the senior high school level over the past five years. The review focuses on the forms of PjBL implementation, types of projects, characteristics of student products, project authenticity, meaningfulness, relevance to classroom time constraints, and proposed solutions. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was employed by analyzing twenty-two articles retrieved from Google Scholar, DOAJ, ERIC, and SINTA databases. The article selection process followed the PRISMA framework, including identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion stages, and the data were analyzed using a thematic approach. The findings indicate that PjBL generally aligns with social constructivist principles through collaborative activities and social interaction. However, most projects remain dominated by academic and symbolic products, such as reports and presentations, with authenticity levels categorized as low to moderate. Furthermore, limited instructional time and teachers' readiness emerge as major challenges. This review highlights a significant research gap in developing authentic and meaningful mathematics projects that support deep learning and the achievement of advanced-level competencies, providing a novel epistemological perspective on how social constructivism is practically translated into project designs.
